RESIDENT CONSULTATION: HUTTOFT PLAYNG FIELD - Residents Feedback Required
Huttoft Parish Council has recently taken over the running of the Huttoft Playing Field and we want to enhance this valuable village asset and make it available to all age groups.
Our proposals will need grant funding, many of these funding organisations require a formal consultation with residents to ensure these proposals meet the requirements of the parishioners. Huttoft Parish Council also want to know the level of support for the proposed improvements.
The five proposals are detailed below:
1.The erection of a 1.2-metre-high metal fence and gate around the play area like the photograph shown below.
The reason we think this is important is because the playground is next to the public footpath it gives a separation from the rest of the playing field allowing a safer environment for children to play in and introduces a dog free zone around the play equipment.
2.The construction of a fitness trail.
The existing playground is aimed at children and younger teenagers, there is nothing available for older teenagers or adults. The introduction of this trail and equipment would extend the use of the playing field to all villagers irrespective of age.
3.A new goal post situated near the car park area.
This will encourage the playing of ball games away from the playground equipment and private gardens.
4.Mowing equipment.
The playing field grass is currently cut by a contractor using agricultural equipment with the Parish Council having to pay for each cut. The proposal would be for the Parish Council to buy a dedicated mower. The advantage would be because the equipment is lighter, it would allow the field to be cut more often, even if the ground is soft. The mower being considered would also cut the grass shorter and finely chop up the grass trimmings allowing a better play environment. In the long term there would also be cost savings.
5.Additional bench seating.
Currently there is only one bench in the playing field with no other seating provision.
As part of this consultation, we would welcome your feedback to the above proposals. Please send your comments to parishclerk@huttoftparishcouncil.gov.uk or contact one of the Parish Councillors.
Please note: as the playing field is a community facility, it will be on the agenda for all future Parish Council meetings, where we would welcome any other comments and suggestions.
